He told you daddy

On the way home from Indy Aaron got mad at Adam because he would not let him get out of his carseat to get a toy. Aaron said - "I'm NEVER going to draw you pictures of houses again." Whoooo - he really told you daddy :-)

Ok so I made my point

I have a real pet peeve about people, my boys in particular, being ungrateful. I know they are kids but when I say we are going to target they ask if they can get a toy. I want them to understand that we work hard for things and you do not just get everything you want. I have no problem telling them we do not have enough money to do certain things. Anyhow… just another one of those life lesson things.

So tonight – well it was just a long night – that’s all I can say. I made the mistake of letting the boys sleep in the bottom bunk. Aidan used to always sleep up top but recently they have been flipping a coin. Adam is the enforcer of this rule but he was at class tonight and I just slacked. They were chatting away and after a few warning I went in and told Aidan to go to the top bunk. He had a fit and said, “I always have to sleep in the top bunk.” So I started into them. “You should be grateful you have bunk beds, actually you should be grateful you have a bed at all, some kids don’t even have beds.” Aaron – “well where do they sleep mom.” Me – “on the floor. As a- matter-a-fact some kids don’t have covers and some don’t even have a house to sleep in, they have to sleep outside on the streets.” They looked at me wide eyed and mouths dropped. They both laid down, I walked out and have not heard a peep out of them.

Yea… so maybe I went a little overboard, but I think I made my point.

Today at school

Today when I picked the boys up from school I asked if they had a good day. Aaron said, “no, I did not feel good.” I asked him why not and he said, “My heart hurt all day long because everyone was mean to me. At nap I was just trying to tell the teacher something and she told me to be quiet.” My sweet, sensitive little Aaron – poor kid.

Today on the way out Aidan had a dime in his pocket and gave it to one of the little girls in his class. Later he told me he was going to marry Krensa. I asked who she was and he said, “You know, the one I gave the money to.”
