Riding Camp

Today the boys had their first day of riding camp. They were really excited about it – they kept asking what they would be doing there. I would tell them riding, crafts, games, taking care of the horses. A few minutes later they would say ‘tell us again what we are doing’. When were waiting for all the kids to get there, Aaron asked me if it was going to be dark when they camped. Too cute – they thought riding ‘camp’ they were going to camp out. Luckily they were not too disappointed when I told them it was not that kind of camp.

The climber

Not long after Santa brought the boys bunk beds last Christmas, Carter figured out how to climb up the ladder. Needless to say the ladder now spends its day under the bed and Aidan climbs up the side to get on the top bunk. Guess who has figured out how to climb up the side too – Mr. Carter. The other day I heard him calling ‘mom, mom’ – like he does in the morning when he walks up. I walked in to the room to find him on the top bunk. And the little stinker would not stop trying to climb it again today, finally I had to lock the boys door because he can also open doors. Funny thing is he has not climbed out of his crib yet. I know he could – the boys did it at 18 months and they were not near the climber he is. Oh I do dread the transition to the toddler bed – let the sleepless nights begin.

Two very tired boys

Here are our VERY tired boys after our last day at the Disney parks

Our last day of vacation

The truth behind the Christmas songs

So I think I might have written before about the fact that we are still singing Christmas songs every night before bed. Each night the boys get to pick a song after dad reads books and I sing to them. Aaron always picks Christmas songs and Aidan usually requests 'take me out to the ball game'. We do have different versions of this song - take me out to the soccer game and take me out to the tennis courts, but that's another story. Anyhow, we have been getting to bed late this summer so some nights I make them take turns picking. Aaron gets so upset when Aidan gets to pick and the other night he said 'Aidan always picks the short songs'. So now it all makes sense - rudolph and jingle bells are much longer songs than take me out to the ball game. So I guess we will be singing Christmas songs until Christmas rolls around this year.

TOO FUNNY

I got this in an email - HAD TO share it with others

Thinking of Having Kids? Do this 11 step program first!

Lesson 1
1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the newspaper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are
parents and berate them about their.
1.. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breast
feeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall
behaviour. Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will
have all the answers.

Lesson 3
A really good way to discover how the nights might feel.
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room
from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with
a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly.
(Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2.At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to
sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until
1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch
an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off..
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and
be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful
and together.

Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out.
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all
summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favourite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does
that look?

Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang
out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave
it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like
that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave
it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back
seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car..

Lesson 7
Go to the local grocery store.. Take with you the closest thing you can find
that has the patience ofa pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an
excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then
definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without
letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or
destroys.

Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having
children.

Lesson 8
1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the
swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9
Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the
Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney
channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's
'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10
Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly.
(Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy';
occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required).
Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years.
You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11
Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else
continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while
playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to
have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's
all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't
have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a
sense of humour is one of the most important things you need as a parent!

A few more

A few last photos - the ponchos and the Power Ranger moves

Hollywood Studios

Our last day we spent at Hollywood Studios Disney. It was raining, but a nice change after the brutal heat. We got ponchos and were set. I had to laugh because I remember thinking these were the dorkiest things ever when I was younger, but I had no problem rocking them today. We almost everything except the Indiana Jones show – the show was full and we were not going to stay around for the next one. We did some meet and greets, watched the stunt show, watched 3D Muppets, got faces painted and rode a few rides. Carter loved the 3D show he was kicking his legs and reaching out. Dad and the boys saw a 3D show at Magic Kingdom and he said they were reaching out for things. We were not planning on going to this park, but I am so glad we did – the Power Rangers made it well worth our while!!!

Power Rangers

Save the best for last. Our first stop at Hollywood studios was the Power Rangers meet and greet. The boys were so excited, but I think Adam and I were probably more excited for them. Check out the smooth moves! They signed the autograph books too. Here is another of Carters ranger move.

Carter

Cater had lots of new experiences this trip and from that came lost of new words. The funniest of them all is how he calls for the boys. He says Aidan best. He will call for them waling around the Villa, he calls for them when they are in line to go down the water slide, or today we were walking to the pool and they got kind of far ahead. When we were waiting to ride the magic carpets he learned ‘up’. Every morning during this trip he wakes up and calls ‘mom, mom’. The day Adam left for golf early I heard the sliding doors where he was sleeping rattling. I got out of bed to find he had crawled out of the pack’n’play and was stuck trying to push the doors open. A few people have commented on his ‘no fear water skills’. He loves the freedom with his swimmies and had no fear jumping off the side with no one to catch him. Remember running down hotel hallways as a kid? The next best thing is being a parent watching your kids do the same. Carter just squeals as he chases after the boys – he thinks they are the coolest things ever! And lastly the Power Ranger arm. The boys do all these ranger moves now and of course Carter has to be right in the middle. He has a little move if his own. He throws his little fit out and holds it there – so cute!!! Here is the arm move during our meet and greet with the Power Rangers.

Putt-Putt

We had a four day Disney pass but after two days in a row we need a day off. We hung out at the pool, went putt-putting and to dinner. Putt-Putt was so fun. I almost beat Adam but my game fell apart at the end. Aidan made a hole in one!!! Carter was once again such a trooper. He just hung out in his stroller and watched us play.

Animal Kingdom

And here is our one photo from Animal Kingdom and this is pretty much how the days went. I was all pumped up after our day at Magic Kingdom – well not so much for Animal Kingdom. It was really hot and rained on and off all day. I remembered really enjoying this park last Disney trip, but it was only OK this time. The biggest problem was the narrow paths and lots of people. When we are trying to navigate two strollers, one being a double, you cannot exactly squeeze through. There were these VERY LARGE groups of people everywhere you turned – they all had matching shirts and was lead by someone holding a flag in the front of the group. They would spread themselves the entire width of the path and not move for the strollers. I told Adam if he saw me run up grab the flag and start beating people with it to just take the kids in run – ha-ha!!! I did good with the heat and the lines, but the groups just about drove me crazy. Sorry boys moms not perfect – dad told me I was being inpatient.

Magic Kingdom

I have to say we pretty much rocked Magic Kingdom! We did EVERYTHING, rides, shows, and parades in ONE DAY! We had two days planned, but everyone was having so much fun we stayed until about 7PM and heading home. We would have liked to see the fireworks, but that was way past our bedtimes. They boys were awesome – such troopers. We were really excited about how much they got to ride. The teacups were a big hit. Carter loved them so much – he had the belly laugh going on. Adam and I took turns taking the boys on rides Carter could not go on, but really there were not too many of those. We only found one or two ride they were not tall enough for. And hats off to the creator of the ‘fast pass’!!!!

Tattoo and face painting

Here is another ‘sucker’ entry – do you see a trend here!?!?!? The boys wanted to get a tattoo at Sea World so we let them get an airbrushed one that was supposed to last up to three days. It was ½ the cost of the Henna one that lasted up to two weeks. The problem with the Henna was it took 1 hour to dry – yea right – not with my boys. Anyhow – ours made it all of three HOURS. When we reapplied sunscreen they came right off. They boys were actually not as upset as I thought they would be.
At Disney Hollywood Studios they had Power Rangers face painting. Mind you this was right after the meet and greet with all the rangers – so this was a must!!! Aidan made it about 6 feet from the booth and he rubbed his forehead. We went back for a touch up that time. But by the end of they day they were gone. They were OK with it when I told them we had a picture and I could get some paint and we could do them at home. They were so darn cute – sorry cool!
