New words and sounds

Carter had lots of one on one time the last few days which gave me time to realize how much his vocabulary is growing. I asked him what a kitty says he rolls his tongue and meows. What does a dog say - he does his famous doowwwwwww with his little perched lips. He says thank you all the time - I am really proud of how good his manners are already! Michelle said he said backpack today when he was watching Dora. He can identify his eyes, nose and ears which he pulls on when you ask him where they are - it is so cute.

Movin' up

Today while to the boys were at holiday world my sisters, Carter and I went outlet shopping. As always the kids raked in! I had all the boys new stuff laying out in their room to surprise them when they got home. Last week I made a comment that the boys needed new undies and they said they wanted boxers like daddy. Today I found these cute boxer/briefs at the Carter outlet. The second they saw them they striped down to try them on. After bath they were showing them to us and I pointed out the little hole in the undies they could use instead of pulling everything down. Then I look in the bathroom and Aaron is going potty through the hold and he has the biggest grin on his face. It was so darn funny!!!

Holiday World

My mom took Aidan and Aaron on there 2nd annual trip to Holiday World. This year they decided to stay overnight. Let me remind you I can still count on one hand the number of nights I have spent away from them so this was a big deal. Funny because they make me lose my mind when they are around and I thought I was going to lose it today when they were not here - ha! And oh my - last night at dinner you could hear a pin drop. Adam and I were laughing how quiet it was. Last night when the boys called I talked to Aidan first and the first thing he asked was where Carter was. Mr. Tough guy has a soft side to him. Then tonight when they got home Aidan came in the door first and gave me the biggest hug. They had a blast and they cannot wait to go next year because they will be tall enough to ride a lot more rides. THANKS NONNIE!!!!

Sick baby

The day we got home from Indy Carter started getting a little fever. Carter is VERY much a home body and a creature of habit, so I thought maybe it was from the traveling. The fever stayed for about a day, but he was just really fussy and tired. The two naps a day were a must. Carter has always been our sleeper, 7AM-7PM, but no so much while he was sick. Oh my, it was like having a newborn in the house, he was waking up every hour. The past few days he is back to his normal self. I am sure he had what Adam and I had it probably just effect him a little different.
But I am writing this because of two things I want to remember. When we got home for our little trip he was so excited to be home. His little feet running down the hall straight to his vacuum. He turned around and looked at me whit the biggest smile when I asked him if he was happy to be home. The other thing - passie and giraffe. We have been trying to only do passie at bed, but since he was sick he got the pitty passie. He was just so sleepy and he would just stand in the middle of the room with passie and giraffe in hand and look at you with these sad little eyes. I would just scoop him up and he would actually sit and let me hold him for more than 3o seconds. I am so glad he is feeling better, but gosh I loved those cuddling moments!!!

Road Trip

Last Tuesday, which is normally my day off, I had to work for Adam because he totally lost his voice. Friday before that I lost my voice. Not a good thing when I had to teach Jazzercise the next three days in a row. Thank goodness for subs!!! Anyhow, I have been wanting to take a road trip to Indy. We went last year right after school got out and had just a wonderful time. So last Tuesday at about 3PM - it had been a really long day at work - I called Adam and told him to get the kids packed and ready we were going on a road trip. I called the hotel, the one with the indoor water park, and they were having a buy one night get the next night free special - BONUS!!! I headed home from work threw some things in a bag, dad had everyone ready to go and off we went. We got there at about 8PM leaving an hour at the water park that night. The next day we went to the children's museum and spent the day there. We headed back to the hotel for nap and after nap we spent the rest of the evening at the water park. This last minute trip is just what we all needed. I love my work and it allows me lots of time with the kids and the opportunities to do thing like this but sometimes we just have to get away. The last night there Adam took Carter back to the room for bed and I stayed with Aidan and Aaron. I sat on the side and just watched them and if I could have stayed there forever I would have. Those real belly laughs and the way they throw their head back when they laugh. Or how they will turn around and look for each other, spot them and just continue on. Aidan's ability to make friends with anyone and the way Aaron looks over a me every few minutes and smiles and waves. Life does not get any better than this!!!

Family day

Today was just one of those days I want to remember. Nothing really excited happened, but we have been SO busy lately just some home time with everyone is nice. The kids slept in until 8:45 this morning - what a great way to start the day!!! Summer session of story time started at the Charlestown library today so Aidan, Aaron and daddy went to that. Dad always does the story time because he enjoys the reading time. For those of you who do not know my husband he is a total book worm. He reads about 2 hours every night. No TV, no computer, just books. Not so much for me. At night you can find me here, on the computer, learning new Jazzercise songs, or watching TV, most likely the news or Law and Order. Anyhow, Cater and I went shopping wile they were at story time. I went to Old Navy for myself and well I ended up with $230 worth of stuff and that worked out to be $30 for myself and $200 for the boys. But no surprise there, that's usually the way it works out. While everyone was napping I finally got in for my hair appointment - I scrapped that growing out idea - I am a short hair person for life! We met for dinner after my haircut then headed home for riding lessons. After the lessons we went home to pick Daddy and Carter up and went for ice cream. After that we ALL headed to the grocery. I know it is silly, but that was the best part of the night. I guess it is because I always go alone or will all the kids, but it was just nice family time.

Riding Lessons

Today was Aidan and Aaron's first riding lesson at Hunter Brook Farms. We were scheduled to start last week but after searching all over the city for kids riding boots, I ended up having to order them online. They were not going to be here in time so we had to push the lessons back a week. I took the boys this evening and Adam stayed home while the cabinet people finished up the wet bar we are having built in the basement.
The lessons were just wonderful and SOOOOO relaxing compared to soccer!!! I caught myself daydreaming of living in a big piece of land with enough room for horses. I always considered myself to be a 'neighborhood' type person, but maybe not???? Plus the older the boys get the louder my house gets, so if I was loosing my mind I could just run without out the neighbors thinking I was crazy - haha!
Back to the lessons. The boys got to ride about 15 minutes each. Aidan rode first while Aaron was cleaning poop out of the stalls - this is what he told me after the lesson. While Aaron was riding Aidan got to 'spread the fluffy stuff out for the horses so they would be cozy while the slept'. Seriously though - I do not think they quit talking and asking questions the entire 30 minutes. They went back talking, talked the entire time they were riding and came out still asking questions - that's my boys for ya! Of course everyone thought they were just so cute... we will see after a few more lessons - haha! I cannot wait for our next lesson I might even sign up for lessons too.
