Moves
We were watching the Power Ranger movie tonight and Aaron looks at me and says “Mom, you watch your Jazzercise DVD to learn your moves. We watch Power Rangers to learn our moves.” Good one Aaron!!!

Twins???
I am very careful not to compare Aidan and Aaron – to me they are not twins – they are two very different little boys that shared mommy’s belly. I still carry a lot of guilt by the fact that they have to share everything, mostly our attention. I guess I notice it more now having a single baby. But they really do not know life any different and they are best buddies. They truly have a relationship only other twins could understand. It still fascinates me to watch them at times. Anyhow, I do like to from time to time look at their personality differences, because they definitely go through phases.
Aidan – currently he has been assigned the nickname ‘negative nancy’. No matter how much we do in a day, what new toy he gets, how late they get to stay up – it is never good enough for Aidan. Tonight for example we went to the fair and we bought the unlimited ride deal. They rode everything they were tall enough to ride but Aidan just wanted to ride one more thing and then just one more. Finally we had to leave only for him to be ‘really angry’, in his words.
Aidan is still the wild and crazy kids and around the house he cannot stay out of trouble. Aidan has LOTS of energy and can hardly hold still a second to listen. I honestly know he does not mean to get in trouble, he just cannot help himself.
Here is where the big contrast between the two comes in. Aaron minds very well – he does not like to get in trouble – her is a people pleaser like me. But when Aaron decides he does not want to do something or if you make him mad, look out buddy… he can break you down. He uses the 'I don’t love you anymore' game. He can actually really embarrass me if I have to punish him in public. And it takes a lot to embarrass me – I am of the “if you can do it better, have at it” mindset.
Tonight after dinner I asked the boys to take their plates to the counter. Of course Aidan did not hear me, but Aaron more than made up. He put Aidan and his plates and cups in the dishwasher, and then wiped the table AND chairs with a wet rag and dust-busted under the table. It was the sweetest thing ever. Not only did he clean, he had the biggest grin on his face the whole time because he knew how happy I was.
Tonight at the fair Aaron was just shy of the 42’ rides and Aidan was just there. We thought we would just try to squeeze him by on the swings, but no such luck. Aidan was in line first - they did not even measure him. Then as Aaron was entering they pulled him aside, my heart sunk. They did not let him go. Adam rushed around to find another ride and Aaron just kind of brushed it off like it was no big thing. That is so Aaron’s personality though – I think we would have had a major problem had it been the other way around – ha!
As for the boys social skills. Aidan is always the life of the party. Everyone wants to be around Aidan – he kind of steals the show – but not on purpose. Aaron is the sweet one – he will be the ‘good’ friend. I think it will be important in the next few years for them to be split up in school. They deserve to have their own set of friends – they share enough as it is.
Here is a good example of the personalities. I come out from getting ready for date night with daddy. Aaron says, “Oh, mommy, you look so pretty.” And then gives me a kiss. Aidan says mom – watch my power ranger move and then demonstrates on me. They both melt my heart and they give me SOOOOOO much to love!

SO BIG
Carter pooped in the potty tonight!!! I put him on right before bath (we have been doing this for the last week or so) and as I was getting him down from the potty – well… obviously he was not done. I sat him back down to finish his business – I was clapping for him and everyone came in to congratulate him – he clapped for himself - so cute!
Today he also very clearly put three words together. We were downstairs cleaning and he pointed to the hungry-hungry-hippo game and said, “I want that”. The other day I thought he said “I want chips” and today made me pretty certain that is what he said.

Map
Tonight Carter was watching Dora and they said - "who do you ask when you do not know which way to go" Carter yells "MAP". The kids loves his Dora!
Potty time
It was not that hard to figure out when they boys were ready to start using the potty. Around 18 months we introduced the potty seat/ring. Every time the boys got in the bath they peed. So we got smart and put them on the potty before they got in the tub and they got used to going in the potty. They did not actually fully train until they were 3. Of course Carter had to have a style of his own. The other day I walked into the bathroom and Adam was holding Carter on the potty. What was all this about – why was I not notified we were working on using the potty??? So that night we HAD to go to Target to get a potty seat. There are some things that are just not meant to be handed down – ha. We tried for the unisex Sesame Street, but Carter insisted on the PINK Dora one. So Dora it was. Let me tell you – he loves the thing. I think I must put that thing away 10 times a day – I know that is so gross that he plays with it. Anyhow as you can see he has quite and audience the first few times he sat on it.
After this first potty trip he wanted nothing to do with putting his diaper back on. He hopped off the potty after about 10 VERY LONG minutes in the bathroom with all those people. He walked into the boy’s room and I saw him opening drawers. He finally found what he was looking for – a pair of the boys undies. He came running over handed them to me and laid down so I could put them on him. He was SO mad when I told him he needed a diaper on. After a while of bare butt I convinced him to put the undies over the diaper – see the photo.

Super Heros in the house
Here is what a typical stay at home day looks like – these super heros are always hanging around my house. No seriously the boys, especially Aidan are in dress up all day every day when we are home. They just got these power ranger costumes. After the third time of asking to where them to the grocery I had to say no – two times in pubic with the ranger suites is enough! Carter had to get in on the action.
Carter and his ranger moves are a whole story in itself. He has been watching way too many power ranger movies for his age and we are going to have to stop taking him to the boy’s karate lesson. When the power rangers come on he starts running around, drops to the ground for a few forward rolls, stands up to kick his legs the pumps him fist and says ‘heeya’ (the sound they make in karate when they do moves). It is the funnies thing ever – even Aidan and Aaron laugh at him.

First day of school
So I actually made it today dropping the boys off with out crying. They were at St. Paul preschool last year, they are even in the same building. I am sure I am saving up for next year – Kindergarten and new school. Bubble in throat just thinking about it. Last night we went to visit my sister Michelle at UofL in her new dorms. Let me first say – oh how times have changed. We walk in and I look beyond the lobby to see a courtyard with a POOL. A pool in a dorm – seriously??? They also have a grilling area and a sand volleyball court. The dorm room common area had a full kitchen, bathroom and living room and there are two bedrooms – she shares with just one other person. I am so excited for her – the college experience is like no other!!! After we visited the dorm we went to dinner. When we were dropping her back off I got a little sad. I got sad thinking about the boys going to college. I know – it is a long time away, but I cannot believe how time flies. How is it that the boys are almost 5 and I am planning Carter’s 2nd birthday. Didn’t I just bring these little guys home from the hospital???
Where, oh where did the summer go....
Here are the boys eating breakfast on there first day of school. Yesterday Aidan and I went to the grocery store – just the two if us!!! On the way there we were talking about how this would be his last year of preschool. I said next year you are going to kindergarten. He said “oh man, that means I have to get shots.” I asked him why – he said that’s what the big kids told him at school. So glad the only association he has with kindergarten is shots – ha!

Another funny one!
Three Ladies in a Sauna
THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER, AND ONE SENIOR CITIZEN, WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. 'THAT WAS MY PAGER,' SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM... A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER EAR. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, 'THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE A MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.' THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW -TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM. SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR END. THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER. THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID.........WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT.....I'M GETTING A FAX!!

School friends
The boys had a few good friends last year at school, but they always talked about Cole. Kinda funny Cole has the exact same birthday as the boys. Anyhow at the end of the year I talked to Cole's mom at field day and we talked about getting them together. Well as the story goes we FINALLY got them together this past weekend. I invited his mom to stay for a while because like the boys - this was his first get together. Last week I brought the boys home power ranger costumes. They wanted Cole to have something to wear so the night before he came over they laid out the spider man costume for him. They opted out of the white power ranger costume - they said it was 'kinda dirty' - nice - ha!
You have to understand my boys and this dress up thing. I would say 5 out of 7 days of the week they are in costumes. I hit the costume sales after last Halloween and they just love to be in dress up. I ordered the ranger costumes after Disney and they have had them on since I brought them home. We have even made two trips to the grocery with them on. Pick you battles other mothers - ha.
Back to Cole. It was just so cute how they had the three costumes laid out the night before he came over. They even had shoes/boots with each costume. They had a BLAST with Cole - dress up and all.

Karate
Well I am bound and determined to find something the boys are interested in, so next on the list, karate. Tonight they had their first lesson and I was totally impressed. It is a great sport for disiplan and manners. They have to call the teacher sir and they have to raise their hand to speak. They had a little one on one lesson which mostly consisted if them asking 1000 questions.. what's that, where did you get that trophie, when do we get our karate suite, why do you have that belt..... and soooooooooooooooo on. Next they had the 'Tiny Tiger' group lessons. They meet for 1/2 hour twice a week. I am hoping they will stick with this one because I think it will really help their focus and attention span. I will take my camera next time, I wanted to check out the rules our first visit. I think we are going to wrap up riding lessons this month - they are still a little young for that. We will be sure to do that riding camp again next summer - they had a really good time.
He is the baby
Carter really needs to lose the passie, and I know it. The twins were so by the book - never took a passie. It is just so stinkin' cute when he walks around with his passie in mouth and giraffe and blanket in hand. That whole mommy's baby... well Carter has me wrapped around his finger. I had mentioned to my mom that I might try to take the passie during vacation - no such luck. When we got home my mom asked my sister if the passie was gone. She said "no, now they have it on a string attached to him". THANKS MICHELLE for calling me out like that - ha!!!
