Bye Bye Passie

My heart is heavy tonight - my baby's passie is on it way out.  I have been fighting Adam on this one for a while.  'I' was not ready for Carter to give up his passie.  I know, I know... but he is the baby and I just don't want him to grow up.  I have been using the excuse that I cannot afford a night without sleep - I have just been way to busy at work.  But now that things have calmed down - I said today was the day.  Adam had the nerve to say 'its about time' - it was not pretty - ha!  Don't mess with me and my babies.  Adam threw them away and told me he cut them up before he threw them out so I could not dig them out of the trash.  I took a video clip and some photos, but i will have to post them later because it will make me to sad right now.  We made it through nap with only a little fussing.  He kept asking for passie, and we just played dumb.  I just put him down for be and he looked long and hard for that passie.  He looked his drawer, in his covers, under the bed.  He called 'passieeeeee'  as he looked long and hard for it.  At one point something rattled under his covers when we were singing and he said 'oh, dare it is' - I said I don't think so bud, and he said 'oh, man'.   Break my heart - poor little guy.  He asked for it a few more time when I was walking out of his room, but I just told him I was not sure where it was.  He is in bed as quiet as can be - such a trooper he is.  Obviously this is way harder on me.  Oh and for the record he was off a bottle at 12 months - I usually play it by the book :-).

Twins

Aidan and Aaron shared a crib until they were about 4 months old. The twin books suggested it for bonding and back in the days – I did EVERYTHING by the book. That went away by #3 – hence the passie still – ha!!! Anyhow Aidan has been getting really scared at night. Must be the age because Cole’s mom (school friend) said he was going through the same thing. He is scared of monsters. One night we even scattered Bakugans under the bed to scare away the monsters – hey whatever works right??? The next night Aaron graciously let Aidan share his bed. The bottom bunk is a full bed so I put a pillow on each end of the bed and they had plenty of room. When I went to kiss them goodnight this is how I found them – their bond is so special!

Big boy breakfast

Carter has started eating cereal with milk... just like his big brothers. Here he is getting his picture taken - he says "cheeeeeese" and then after the flash he says "again, cheeeeeeese"

Snow day #1

Snow day #1. We went out the other… how many snow days???? (TOO many)... but this was the only day I got he camera out.

Best Buddies

Over Christmas break Aidan and Aaron got to get together with their very best school buddy Cole. We had him over once and the boys went to his house the following weekend. I actually left them – big step for me. I left there thinking – Lord please let them mind their manners. It is funny to think how hard we work to prepare to send them out into the world and then when we do all we do is worry if all our hard work will actually work!!!

Christmas 2009

We had a sick bunch of kids this Christmas. It was the first time all three boys have been sick at the same time. They had fevers and coughs that just seemed to hang on forever. One night everyone was sitting at the dinner table and I looked at all the sick little faces and I said ‘I never thought I would say this, but I miss my loud and crazy boys’. Carter was coughing so much Christmas Eve it made him vomit a few times – I felt so bad for the little guy. I think they had more Motrin over Christmas week than they have had in their entire life (we are not big medicine people). But we did not let it spoil our fun – I mean we wait all year for this day!!

Aidan and Aaron went though lots of catalogs and circled what they wanted, but by the time Christmas came around practically the whole catalog was circled. Sweet Aaron even circled stuff for the neighbor kids. Anyhow they really never told me exactly what they wanted. Then on Christmas Eve Aidan said ‘hey mom, I sure hope Santa brings me that Power Ranger Helmet.’ Well…. Santa did not have that for Aidan - so out I went on Christmas Eve for the Power Ranger helmet.

Santa’s big gift was the trampoline. I had this grand idea to put it together a few days before Christmas and keep all the back blinds closed until Christmas morning. I ‘THOUGHT’ I could pull it off. So two days before Christmas we hired a sitter, it was a nice warm day, and Adam and I left out the garage like we were really leaving. We snuck around to the back and had the trampoline up in about 2 hours. I made a great big bow – I could not wait to see their faces Christmas morning. Well about two hours after we got it up I heard Adam “NO, NO, NO, NO” followed by “wow, mom”. Yes, my plan did not go so well. They had opened the back door to let the cat in and saw it. I was just upset that I did not get to see their faces – that is the best part of Christmas for me!

Early Bird

First thing every morning Carter stands at his gate and call 'Mommy, Mommy, Mommy..." and if I don't respond he moves on to Daddy, and then onto Aidan and Aaron. It is usually around 7AM, but he got up a little too early this morning, and after no one would get up with him he gave up and this is where we found him. Notice passie, blanket and giraffe - he has all his sleeping gear!

Here we are .... again

Hello – I have returned to earth from planet accounting.  Now that I am doing accounting/consulting for three companies – that means three year ends and tax prep.  I wrapped things up last week after a 50-hour week and that did not include Jazzercise.  That is nothing compared to the hours I used to put in during tax season.  But considering I have not worked full time in 4 years and back in the days I got to come home and do nothing – it kicked my butt!!!  I really enjoy it, but I have missed my boys.  The weekends mean so much more when working 5 days/week.  On Sunday Adam went to a Super Bowl party and the boys and I stayed home and made our ‘smile box’ craft.  It was such a good way to end the weekend, and when I was sitting at work on Monday thinking about it, I missed them so darn much.  The consulting work I am doing for Heine Brothers’ Coffee will slow down in a month or so and then I will just work 3-4 days week.  Adam had really picked up the slack at home.  He does all the errands, gets the kids to school and picks up, and any does house chores that need done.  A few weekends ago we were supposed to go out with some of Adam’s friends, but I cancelled the sitter and stayed home because I was just so tired.  So this weekend Adam and I had a much-needed night out.  And I have FINALLY found time to update the blog.
